ancient science

'Ayur' 'Veda'

The name Ayurveda comes from two Sanskrit words 'ayur' meaning life and 'veda' meaning knowledge. In a broad sense, it means knowing how to maintain a long and healthy life. Ayurveda's holistic and integrated approach can help you to reconnect with your original nature—naturally healthy, resilient and energised.

Ayurveda is a sister science to yoga and can help you improve your overall health. In our busy world we have lost our connection with natural rhythms. Our working day now flows into the night as electronic devices stay on late and we travel across time zones at high speed. Ayurveda provides the tools to help you manage these ever-changing, ever-moving lifestyles. You can optimise your health and wellbeing on every level.

the vast benefits

Apply practical Ayurveda into your daily habits

Ayurveda is an ancient science that recognises that everything outside of us affects what goes on inside - the food we eat, the supplements we take, the seasons, the environment, the type of exercise we do and the therapies we receive. All of these influences have a particular type of impact on your body, mind and emotions. As you understand yourself better, you will notice how your health, relationships and quality of life improve. According to the healing science of Ayurveda, every living and non-living thing in the universe is made up of a combination of five basic elements – space, air, fire, water and earth. Our human body also comprises these five elements in various compositions. They manifest in the human body as three basic principles, or subtle energies, known as doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Vatta

Air and Ether

Pitta

Fire and Water

Kapha

Earth and Water

Vata governs movement & creativity. Imbalance can lead to anxiety & sleep disorders.

Pitta governs metabolism & change. Imbalance can cause irritability & stress.

earth-kpha-dosha

Kapha governs structure & stability. Imbalance can result in lethargy & depression.

Knowledge of the five elements and the three doshas is essential to lead happy and healthy lives. When they are in balance, we can function at our highest level as human beings.

By understanding the positive and negative aspects of each element and dosha, we can design our life so that we can live the life we want to - healthy, happy and fulfilled.
